What Activities Do Children Do At Nursery? It is important for parents to stay involved with their children while they
are at nursery. At Little Steps Day Care, there are plenty of extracurricular
activities for your child to explore, as well as interactive and educational
topics at our nursery. Little Steps
Day Care are happy to discuss the different activities with parents,
ensuring you are happy with the early education children are getting.
Regardless of the different things we are doing, all children are involved and
encouraged.
Nursery Sessions We try to incorporate several parts to all nursery sessions,
whether children are here for the full day or just AM or PM sessions. Our full-day is from 08:00-18:00, with AM sessions finishing and PM sessions starting at
13:00. Nursery sessions are available for both under 2s and over 2s, ensuring
children are interacting with their own age group and have a great opportunity
to make friends.
Within our daily session, in addition to the ongoing
activities and lessons, we provide breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks and
a light tea for your child. Hot lunches are also available for £2.50 if you
cannot provide a packed meal, giving you peace of mind that children are always
looked after and can be fed throughout the day.
Education & School Preparation A big part of nursery is of course about preparing children
for the big step up to primary school. Educational aspects of nursery should be
made as fun and interactive as possible, giving all children a chance to
develop but still making sure nursery is fun, with children enjoying everything
they do day-to-day.
We help children with basic literacy, such as reading, and
mathematical skills, as well as stimulating children’s development through
exploration, play and adventure. Education is a big part of nursery and
something we strive to help all young children with, regardless of their
current abilities.
Nature Walks & Messy Play It is important for all children to actually play outside
and play the way they want to from a young age. To help keep children active
and make sure they go outside regularly, we have both an outdoor play area, as
well as organising nature walks to let all children explore the outside world.
If your child does not show an interest in sports, it is still important to go
outside and spend time with others, with outdoor walks one of the best ways to
do this.
In addition to outdoor activities, we also give children the
chance for messy and sensory play. We understand not all children share the
same interests so it is important to have a range of options for every child at
nursery to be involved and enjoy nursery as much as possible. Sensory play
gives children the chance to be more creative and get their hands dirty, an
opportunity that not every nursery provides. Furthermore, children do lots of arts
and crafts, meaning everyone can find something they really enjoy from a young
age.
Singing Children should have as many opportunities as possible. Singing
is just one of the extra activities we do to get all children involved and
potentially find some hidden talents! Signing is also a fantastic way of
improving self-confidence, giving all children self-belief and encouraging them
to take part individually and as a group.
Drama and dance can also be incorporated into
different activities, allowing children to use initiative and get involved with
something they enjoy.
Cooking Club Cooking club is another extra option we have. Children can
learn to cook the more basic foods from a young age, with cooking club being
fun for all children and even means they can bring something home for their
parents to try (if you dare!).
